Under the Leadership & Community Outreach Program, students from LCO 2024 Groups 1 and 2, final-year Pharm.D students at Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, recently organized and conducted four impactful awareness sessions on Mental Health and Dengue Prevention in government schools. These sessions provided essential health education, benefiting both students and staff in these communities.
Key Achievements of the Awareness Sessions
Our dedicated volunteers educated school staff and students on the current dengue situation in Punjab, covering:
- Dengue Awareness: Understanding the disease, current trends in Punjab, and methods for prevention and treatment
- One-on-One Mental Health Discussions: Targeted sessions with 9th and 10th-grade girls (ages 14-16) to discuss mental health awareness, including:
- What mental health means and its importance
- Prevention strategies and ways to manage mental well-being
- Resources and practices to support mental health in school and personal life
Supporting Activities and Team Contributions
In addition to on-site sessions, our volunteers went above and beyond, with LCO 2024 teams supporting this program through:
- Fundraising efforts to facilitate outreach materials and logistics
- Flyer and Poster Design for effective information dissemination
- Assignment-based Skill Development Sessions: Engaging workshops on project management, public speaking, communication, and leadership skills.
By the grace of God, the initiative was met with enthusiasm and appreciation from the school communities. We are delighted to announce that our participating students have earned 30-credit-hour completion certificates for their outstanding contributions to this outreach program. Their commitment and teamwork reflect the values of the All Pakistan Students Union, and we look forward to seeing their continued impact in the field of community health.
